Sober Grad Night 2009
Not long ago, "organized" grad parties were unheard of. Usually kids would get together on their own and celebrate in ways and environments that are not as safe as those that are being provided today. The graduation party was born out of the desire to reduce dangerous activities and increase the fun for the students during this milestone event.
This year, the graduating seniors at Esparto High School are being treated to a “Sober Grad Night” celebration on June 3, 2009, at the Scandia Fun Center in Fairfield, California. The event usually starts at 11:00 pm and ends at 5:00 am, and all students must ride the bus to and from the event. The students will be treated to a all night party, which includes food, drinks, bowling and laser tag, just to name a few. Volunteer parents, within the District, and community friends are sponsoring the Sober Grad Night activities. They are working hard to plan a full night of fun and healthy activities. This will be our sixteenth year of providing this unique activity for the students in our District’s high school. Additionally, our high school is small enough that other enrolled student (freshman, sophomores, and juniors) are also invited to attend, making it a community-wide event. The seniors are invited for free and the underclassmen pay a minimal amount. Sober Grad Night is very expensive to put on; the costs are approximately $10,000.00 for the night. We are always in need of prizes for the senior raffle, which is just for the seniors on the night of Sober Grad.
