Academic Decathlon Welcome to the Esparto High School Academic Decathlon Web Page
What is Academic Decathlon? Academic Decathlon is a sport of non-athletes and athletes alike. Academic Decathlon combines individual goals with a competitive team environment.
On the team, nine students (3 “A” students, 3 “B” students & 3 “C” students) qualify to compete in the annual Academic Decathlon in the Yolo County competition. The competitors take 30-minute multiple choice tests in:
In addition, each team member gives a four-minutes speech, a two-minute impromptu speech, complete a seven-minute interview and write an essay in 50 minutes. All of this in one day. The only event open to the public is the Super Quiz Oral Relay, which is as exciting as watching any sporting event. The Super Quiz focuses on a specific science or social science topic. The topics change each year.
