Superintendent's Welcome...

Welcome to the 2008 – 2009 school year.  We are looking forward to working with all of your children and providing the best educational program Esparto Unified School District has to offer.   

 Before the year ended last year I was given a proposal by the technology committee to approve a student assessment system that would assist our teachers in creating benchmark assessments to help guide instruction.  I have reviewed the information that was provided and we are currently working with Data Wise to install the system for Esparto Unified School District students.  I will be asking teachers to step forward and join me in the selection of test items from the bank of questions that will be provided to us by our vendor, Data Wise. 

With this assessment tool comes staff development.  Our vendor, Data Wise will be providing a series of staff trainings on the web based assessment tool.  Our school calendar is now reflective of minimum days that will help facilitate this staff development.    

The State Board of Education enacted the requirement that all 8th grade students must take the Algebra 1 examination.  This not only affects the middle school students but the elementary students as well.  We must prepare our students in the elementary grades so that they have the necessary skills to be Algebra ready by 8th grade.
