GENERAL INFORMATION

Short-term Independent Study is a voluntary option in the Esparto Unified School District, which allows your child the opportunity to continue with his/her studies while traveling or experiencing special circumstances, thus decreasing the risk of falling behind in his/her class work. Independent Study may be for up to two weeks.

As Independent Study affects your child’s grades, it should be understood that, while assignments are directly from or extensions of district approved curriculum, they are not necessarily equivalent to classroom instruction and interaction with other students.

Parents may request independent study at the school office. The request must be made in person because a parent’s signature is required on the Master Agreement.

Short-term Independent Study may be utilized when your child:

Travels with the family
Attends a family funeral
Has a family illness or emergency
Family business

For travel, parent/guardians must request short-term Independent Study at least one week before the start of the agreement. It is important to understand that the development of the Master Agreement and assignments for your child requires the time and effort of many people at your child’s school. Agreements may be requested for one or two days, grades K-12, at the discretion of the site administrator.

Long-term Independent Study is given as an alternative to a comprehensive education. It may be given to replace or supplement classroom work. Parents should speak to the Independent Study Coordinator about possible college requirements before considering Independent Study.

Esparto Unified School District Board Policy states:

When any student K-12 missed two consecutive weeks of independent study assignments, the Superintendent or designee shall conduct an evaluation to determine whether it is in the student’s best interest to remain in independent study.

The Superintendent or designee shall ensure that each participating student has executed a written independent study contract with the district as prescribed by law. All work must be completed by the last day of the contract. (Education Code 51747).

When special or extenuating circumstances justify a longer time for individual pupils, the superintendent or designee may approve a period not to exceed three months, pursuant to a written request with justification.

Use the Request for Extension of Short-term Independent Study. Requests for extension must be made at the time of the regular agreement. The request for extension must be approved by the school principal, the superintendent, or his designee for District Independent Study.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

You are responsible for the supervision of your child while he/she is completing the assigned work.
You are responsible for ensuring the return of all assignments to the school the next school day after the ending date of the agreement.
You are liable for the cost of replacement or repair of damaged books or other school property checked out to your child.

ESTUDIO INDEPENDIENTES CE CORTOTIEMPO

INFORMACION GENERAL

El estudio independiente de corto tiempo es una opción voluntaria del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Esparto que permite su niño/a la oportunidad de continuar con sus estudios mientras de un viaje o en circunstancias especiales que pueden afectare en atrasarse en el trabajo escolar.

Como el estudio independiente afectara los grados de sus hijo/a, tendrá que comprender que as tareas son directamente extensiones de curriculum aprobada por el distrito, no son necesariamente equivalentes a instrucciones de una clase o la interacción con otros estudiantes

El estudio independiente tendrá que ser utilizado cuando su niño/a:

Viaje con la familia
Asiste en un funeral familiar por mes de un día
Tiene una enfermedad o emergencias en las familias
Family Business

Pares u viaje, el padre/guardián tendrá solicitar Para Estudio independiente de corto tiempo por 10 menos tres días trabajo de anticipación del comienzo del contrato. En otra situación no es necesario el tieso dial de anticipación, Pero es de gran importancia que comprenda que pares desarrollar un Contrato y tares pares los requisitos de su niño/a requiere tiempo y esfuerzo de Varían personas de la escuela de su niño/a. Por favor trace de avisaron tiempo su es posible.

Los contratos se pueden solicitar por una oy don días pares los grados del kinder al doce por el director de la escuela.

La junta del distrito de Esparto ha determinado que:

Cuando un estudiante no recibe dos Semana consecutivas Ce estudio independiente (asignaciones), El Superintendente o la persona designada deberá conducir una evaluación para determinar se es en beneficioso para el interés del estudiante seguir en estudio independiente. (Educación code 51747).

Cuando las circunstantes de especial o siguen necesita mes tiempo. Para estudiante de individual, el superintente o la persona designada podrá aprobar un tiempo o la extendió Para mes tres mes, una rasan razonable en escrito.

Solicitáramos la extensión por un corto tiempo pares Estudio Independiente. Extensión solicitada tendrá que estar entregada al tiempo acuerdo. La solicitud extendida tendrá que ser aprobada por el principal de la escuela.

RESPONSABILIDADES DE LOS PADRES

Usted es responsable sobre la supervisión de que les tareas sena completadas por su niño/a.
Usted es responsable en asegurarse que el trabajo sé entregado a les escalera al siguiente día de la fecha fija.
Usted es responsable en el costo de reemplazar o reparar libros destruidos o otro materiales o propiedad de la escuela que fue sacado pro su hijo/a.
